On the day when crime dons the apparel of innocence — through a curious transposition peculiar to our times — it is innocence that is called upon to justify itself.

Why do people have to be this lonely? What’s the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?

Gwendolyn Greene, 1961.
In 1961, Gwendolyn was a 19 year old student at Howard University when she decided to take part in a Freedom Ride from New Orleans to Jackson, Mississippi. She spent 40 days in jail.
The previous summer she was one of five Howard students arrested for riding the carousel at the segregated Glen Echo Park in Maryland. The resulting protest led to the park being integrated in 1961 and a 1964 Supreme Court ruling that the local police had unjustly enforced segregation at the private park.
Gwendolyn later married fellow Freedom Rider Travis Britt and raised two sons while working in real estate and human resources.
Beginning in 2003, Gwendolyn represented District 47 (Prince George’s County) in the Maryland State Senate. She won her seat with 99.4% of the vote. One of her main goal was legalizing gay marriage in Maryland. Unfortunately, Gwendolyn died in office in 2008.

I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it’ll say “Holden Caulfield” on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it’ll say “Fuck you.” I’m positive, in fact.

varjaak asked: i'm not entirely sure where that shitty incident with the dog happened - and not exactly sure when either - but i had a link on my last blog that showed the original source of that. it's from years ago. 200...6...if i remember correctly. I'm also not entirely sure about the part talking about the dog getting thrown down the stairs. I don't remember that being a part of the original story. But like I said, this has been circulating for years now.
Thanks man. It’s so important to get the source of everything
Studio Update:
Day 1: We recorded acoustic instruments. The first day of recording is almost always the hardest for us, but usually results in us finding a better way of doing stuff. This time we are tracking most of the guitar and bass stuff separately so we can mix the stuff better.
Day 2: FUN FUN FUN!!! Sean recorded a piano jam and did some more acoustic guitar stuff. We then brought in Deacon Blue Batchelor and Ben Horowitz to play drums and lead guitar respectively for a couple songs!
Today we plan on doing some more drum stuff and recording some nylon string! Shit’s about to get real weird…
I’m so stoked for the full band songs and this record in general
